TRAINER BIO:

Aaron Ireland is an experienced and dedicated educator with a 15-year track record in teaching, curriculum development, and community engagement. As the visionary Founder and President of L.O.T.U.S. (Lifting Ourselves Through US), he achieved an outstanding 500% growth within one year through the implementation of innovative programming in Chicago Public Schools. Aaron has demonstrated his commitment to fostering inclusive learning environments, advocating for literacy and STEAM education, and spearheading initiatives that actively promote equity and social justice. His unwavering dedication to lifelong learning and adeptness in creative problem-solving set his programming apart in his field. Aaron holds a Bachelor’s degree in Africana Studies from Tennessee State University, where he delved deeply into the study of trends in policy and pedagogy, particularly focusing on their impact on marginalized, resilient, and under-resourced communities. Furthering his academic journey, he earned a Master’s in Teaching from the esteemed University of Chicago. As a visionary leader, Aaron has successfully built and leads a 21-person board. His strong leadership is evident in his thoughtful delegation of responsibilities, emphasizing clear and intentional communication firmly rooted in the mission and vision of the organization. Aaron has proven successful in building a sustainable non-profit program with a distinct focus on impactful and inclusive programming. His ability to navigate and excel in fundraising efforts has significantly contributed to the ongoing success of the organization he leads.

 

 Training Description

As the gaps in academic achievement, health, and economic opportunities continue to widen, there is a pressing need for programs that go beyond mere babysitting and actively contribute to closing these gaps. This workshop is designed to empower caregivers, educators, and program coordinators to address these challenges effectively.

Training Objectives

● Articulate the needs and gaps in their communities.

● Implement effective classroom management strategies.

● Structure lessons using the Gradual Release of Responsibility model.

● Incorporate cultural relevance into their teaching and caregiving practices.

● Make realistic promises that align with program capabilities and community needs
