ICJIA Budget Committee Funding Actions

At the October 20, 2022, ICJIA Budget Committee Meeting, the committee approved two future funding opportunities and awarded nearly $8 million in grants to agencies and organizations across Illinois.

Notices of Funding Opportunity

The committee:

• Approved a $2.9 million notice of funding opportunity for transitional housing programs to be released early next year. This initiative will be supported with Victims of Crime Act funding.

• Approved a $180,000 notice of funding opportunity to support the Albany Park/Irving Park Violence Prevention Grant Program. This program will offer violence prevention service grants to the Albany Park and Irving Park communities of Chicago.

Grant Awards

The committee:

• Designated $3.5 million in Violence Against Women Act funds to support multidisciplinary response teams (MDT) across the state. MDTs offer coordinated approaches from law enforcement to prosecution that improve responses to victims of domestic violence and sexual assault in their jurisdictions.

• Designated more than $4 million in American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to 10 local organizations to provide violence prevention services across Illinois.

• Designated $296,600 in Restore, Reinvest, and Renew (R3) grant funding to Teens Against Killing Everywhere (TAKE) to provide economic development, re-entry, and violence prevention services.
